Excerpts of responses to Jerry Arhelger’s Ministry

At the outset of this full report of Jerry’s time with us, might I say that he gave unstintingly of himself in the work of not only evening engagements, but also in Her Majesty’s Prisons, Male and Female, mostly in the afternoons. Jerry Arhelger not only sang about his faith and of his Lord and Savior but he ministered to those who attended from the Word of God. The breadth of his ministry spanned Christian Brethren, Baptist Churches, Church of Scotland, Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, etc., and was most warmly received everywhere he went. He spoke to individuals, counseling them in his Lord’s name, bringing them the message of Hope and Salvation. Such tours as Jerry has just completed go a long way in bringing a touch of reality to prisoners and assist me greatly in the work I do on a weekly basis in the prisons of Scotland. Jerry’s time spent in the prisons was "a first", for not in 20 years that I have been involved in prison work has anyone reached out to so many in such a compact program in the Name of Jesus. This was a precedent. Also many Church Fellowships hold in high regard the ministry of Jerry Arhelger.

(Mr. W. K. McGibbon, Project Leader, Scottish Offenders Project – Scotland)

It is a privilege to recommend Mr. Jerry Arhelger, Founder and Director of Net Casting Ministries. I have observed his ministry in a variety of settings, including church services informal sharing groups and youth retreats. In each of these, he has been able to communicate the Good News of the Gospel! Jerry is a mature Christian man, who preaches the "Spirit-filled" and controlled life with special emphasis on obedience. His own lifestyle is a witness of this. God is greatly using Jerry to minister the word and it is with great joy that I recommend him to you. I know you’ll be blessed as he ministers in your area.

(James E. Fillingim, Pastor, First United Methodist -- Wewahitchka, Florida)

This is to serve as reference to Mr. Jerry Arhelger. I have had Jerry minister in our church during 1992 and 1993. On each occasion we have seen good results. Both sinners and saints alike respond to his heartfelt music and testimony. Jerry’s music, vocally and on guitar, is of the highest standard. He has an evangelistic burden that unites with ours. Jerry has always been willing to work with us in any way we need, never imposing his own agenda upon the local church. I recommend Jerry and his ministry to any church or group that desires to see souls saved and the Body of Christ strengthened.

(Pastor David Vicary, Victory Chapel -- Bury St. Edmunds, England)

I have known Rev. Jerry Arhelger personally for over 20 years and have asked him to bring his talents to every church I have pastored in that period of time. He is a good Christian man, very gifted and talented. He plays the guitar and sings beautifully and has made videos and albums using his talents. The Holy Spirit works through him with these many gifts. He is also an excellent preacher and teacher of the Bible. His many talents are in great demand throughout the United States, in Europe and the United Kingdom as well doing concerts, seminars and revivals. I do not hesitate to heartily endorse Rev. Jerry Arhelger and encourage any group to make use of his varied talents.

(Rev. James L. Allison, Saint Andrew United Methodist – Pensacola, FL)

Dear Pastors, Like many of you, I’m always skeptical anytime someone I don’t know very well recommends an evangelist I don’t know at all. That’s exactly what happened concerning Jerry Arhelger when a fellow pastor in the county where I live recommended him to me. You know what else "exactly" happened? Our church was blessed in revival services in a tremendous way through Jerry’s ministry. Not only did we have conversions, but other believers "got right" with God. Not only does Jerry have the ability to present the message well by singing, teaching and preaching but also he remains faithful to the word of God. As you’ve probably noted by his resume, Jerry has been a part of many lives including a Who’s Who in entertainment. But, he hasn’t lost the ability to communicate with people from any station in life – socially, economically, and spiritually. He has a heart for the Lord, as well as the local church and it’s people. Everybody is a "star" to Jerry. We were so impressed with how the Spirit of God has moved through his life and ministry, Jerry has an open invitation to lead our church in revival services anytime he chooses. Nobody else has ever earned that level of confidence and respect.

(Rev. Chris Barrows, Morning View Baptist Church -- Mantachie, MS)

Allow me this opportunity to introduce to you Jerry Arhelger. Jerry is a talented young man who has been used of God in ministering throughout the country and also in Europe. He has a keen appreciation for and understanding of the importance of the local church, wherever he might minister. He has been given a unique ministry in Word and in song. Jerry has committed many portions of the Word of God to memory and is involved in illustrated sermons as well as being nationally known for his song "Breaker Breaker Sweet Jesus". The songs he has written are proving to be a tremendous blessing. This young man has traveled extensively in evangelistic ministry and I feel would truly be a blessing to you and your people. He has a humble spirit and God has blessed his ministry to those who have received him. It gives me pleasure to endorse the ministry of Jerry.

(David A. Warren, Pastor Glad Tidings Assembly of God –Wewahitchka, FL)

In the 25 year history of the Road Gang, Jerry Arhelger’s "Breaker Breaker Sweet Jesus, has and is still the most requested song we have ever had."

(Dave Nemo, host of the National Road Gang Radio Show –Music City News—Nashville, TN

Jerry Arhelger conducted a very effective four-day revival-renewal for the Protestant Chapel community of Eglin Air Force Base. During these four days, I found Jerry to be quite flexible and accommodating towards the needs of our military community. Jerry’s music is inspirational and alive. His message was well received by the Eglin community. A change in community attitude and spirit was quite evident following the revival-renewal. Jerry’s presentation is professional in nature. He is sensitive to the varied backgrounds that comprise the Chapel community. His approach is extremely positive. The Eglin Chaplains appreciated Jerry’s warmth and authenticity. Exciting is the best word to describe Jerry’s presentation of the "Good News". In light of my experience with Jerry, I feel that I can enthusiastically recommend his ministry to any military base that is looking for a resource person to bring spiritual uplift to God’s people. Our people have asked that Jerry be asked to return in the near future. His ministry among us was meaningful and his touch has been lasting.

(Lt. Col. George J. Worner, Senior Protestant Chaplain – Eglin Air Force Base, FL)

At Radio City Liverpool we were receiving more request for Jerry’s record than the Band-Aid single, when it was number one on the charts. Jerry’s song, "Breaker Breaker Sweet Jesus" was the second most requested song ever, second only to the song "Yesterday" by the Beatles.

(Johnny Kennedy, Radio City – Liverpool, England)

It’s kinda nice to know that after 25 years in the music business you can still be subject to a surprise, a pleasant one at that, every once in a while. Jerry Arhelger surprised me and also inspired me! We first met when we were both taking part in a programme at Fan-Fare called "Sunday Morning Country". To borrow (and paraphrase) the creed and motto of the BBC; I was informed, entertained and educated by Jerry."

(George Hamilton IV, Grand Ole Opry Star-Nashville, TN)

Jerry Arhelger led a four day Spiritual Renewal Week at our church July 4 - 7, 1999. God used Jerry to impact our town in a way that will begin a true spiritual renewal. There are many things about Jerry that indicate he has a prominent place in God's plan to wake up the Body of Christ.

First, Jerry is a man who walks with the Lord. The names Jerry and Enoch are, I believe, synonomous. As the pastor of Shuqualak Baptist Church I had the priviledge of having Jerry stay at my house. It truly was a blessing which reminded me of how the ark of the covenant blessed the house of Obed-Edom. Our house was blessed mightily, too.

Second, Jerry has passionate desire to see complacent Christians shun the world and grasp hold of all that God has in store for those who diligently seek him. The theme for the week was deepening our relationship with Father. "Father" was how Jerry constantly referred to almighty God who has adopted us to be his children. How I wish that we all knew God so closely that we would no longer speak of him as a far away spiritual entity - referring to Him as "God" and "Lord," (which rightly He is) but instead knowing him as "Abba," Father - Daddy. God is so loving and so desires that we know him in that way.

Thirdly, Jerry is non-traditional speaker. I hear of preachers being described as conversational, but Jerry actually converses when he preaches. He gets off the platform and out from behind the pulpit and talks to us from the isle of the church. His manner was such that he could hold the congregation’s attention for the hour or so that he preached. Then when he closed many or us wished that he had not stopped. Many people from the church who attended the revival mentioned to me how glad they were that Jerry was so non-traditional in his approach.

Fourthly, Jerry is not a pleaser of men, but a pleaser of God. I know it is easy for an evangelist to come into a church for a few days or a week and beat people over the head with His Bible, because he will not be there for long. That kind of preaching is superficial and emotional and will not result in perpetual change. The preaching that we received, however, was more like being fed. Jerry is exceptionally knowledgable of the Bible and extremely wise in his application of all that it contains. The messages were highly convicting, but not sharply. It was evident that the conviction was delivered in a package of pure, unconditional love.

Lastly, Jerry is a phenomenal musician. His music has the ability to stir the soul almost as much as his preaching.

I would not hesitate to recommend Jerry's ministry to any church group. He was a big part of what I believe God is wanting to accomplish here in Shuqualak, MS. God is at work and he is using Jerry Arhelger. May the Lord Jesus Christ be praised in all the Jerry does, Amen!

(Pastor Darren Chester – First Baptist Church – Shuqualak, MS)

After moving to Ely, Minnesota, In June of 1978, with 23 years of experience as a Methodist pastor and having heard "Breaker Breaker, Sweet Jesus" often on the radio, I was pleased and surprised to learn that the man who recorded the hit Gospel song would be coming to our town. I was especially impressed when I learned that he would be traveling on faith all the way across this great country from Wewahitchka, Florida. After his arrival and a few hours into the citywide Jesus rally that others had planned before my arrival, it was my privilege to count myself as another of the host of friends of Jerry Arhelger. I found a rich blessing in his ministry and welcomed him into my pulpit as the event closed on Sunday. In the fall of 1997, as I was doing my best to revitalize a small Lebanon, Tennessee congregation, I was again surprised and blessed. Jerry came to visit one Sunday and he has remained as a vital part of this congregation and community. Jerry has been generous with his time and talent, regularly sharing with preaching and singing and the church is getting back on its feet. Attendance has doubled and church finances are strong. The church is now gradually adding older members and reaching young adults who are looking for friendship in the Lord and vital ministry and music. It is a privilege to be one of the "home bases" for Jerry Arhelger Ministries and we support Bro. Jerry with our love and prayers where ever the Lord leads him to serve.

(Russell Lindsay-Pastor, Bethlehem United Methodist – Lebanon, TN)

I am thankful for the opportunity to recommend to you Jerry Arhelger, Founder and Director of Net Casting Ministries. I have become aquainted with Jerry through his ministry of music to our chapel at Tyndall AFB, Florida. His teaching and music communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ in a truly anointed way. Jerry is a warm and personable man whose love of the Lord Jesus is exemplified in his life style. I am sure that his ministry will be a blessing to you and your area.

(Capt. Emilio A. Chaviano, Chaplain, Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida)

Jerry Arhelger has been used of God to bring anointed singing, sharing, testimony and preaching to the various churches that I have served. Everytime Jerry has come he leaves good fruit. Increased commitment to Jesus Christ and His church, new Christians and people experiencing the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Though they love Jerry, as a precious brother, their focus is to Jesus Christ and His body, the church. In over fourteen years that I have known Jerry, he has continued to grow and mature in his witness and walk with Jesus. I encourage any Pastor and Evangelism committee who seek renewal and outreach with the emphasis on soul winning, which can touch all ages, to prayerfully seek God and allow this anointed ministry dedicated to the building up of His church to bring lasting fruit.

(David L. Bromstad, Pastor – Highland Park United Methodist – Dothan, Alabama)

This is a letter of introduction for Jerry Arhelger who has just finished meetings with us at Heritage Baptist Church. This is the second year that he has been with us and we are all looking forward to next year. Our church has been deeply affected by his singing but even more than that we have been touched by the loving ministry of the Word in the power of the Holy Spirit that God has blessed him with. We are being changed as a congregation not because of Jerry but with Jerry. The love that our people have for him is evidence of his dedication to the Lord and the gospel ministry. Our God is so good and He is calling many out for "such a time as this". I can honestly say that Jerry Arhelger is one of those.

(Frank Schaffer. Pastor – Heritage Baptist Church – Elkview, West Virginia)

I would like to attest to the calling of God upon Jerry Arhelger’s life. I have known Jerry personally for ten years. He has ministered the Word at New Covenant Christian Center through both music and teaching many times. I have also introduced Brother Arhelger to a number of pastors with whom we are affiliated and traveled or ministered with him in their churches. Jerry has tremendous gifts of insight and affirmation whereby God reveals himself, encouraging, strengthening and illuminating His people. We have witnessed this time after time in services with Jerry. Perhaps the most profound impact that brother Arhelger has had on me is of a more personal nature, at the time of my young daughters drowning death and at the death of a mutual minister friend. Jerry’s compassion and wisdom through years of Kingdom living has sharpened him to be of much use to the Lord. Healing flows from this man’s life, no doubt out of his own wounds which our Lord has touched. If you know anyone that knows Jerry, they will, without doubt, attest to these things. If you are being put in touch with him for the first time, simply pray as to what our Lord would have him do within your ministry. You will be richly blessed and your people deeply moved.

(Scott D. Harter, Pastor & Director – New Covenant Christian Centers – Berwick, PA)

I am writing this letter to recommend Jerry Arhelger, Evangelist, Interdenominational or Denominational, as one who presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ in his ministry, singing and preaching. For the past 15 years, I have used Jerry to do a particular ministry in my church. He involves himself with seminars, singing ministry, youth and adult ministry. He not only follows instructions and does his work faithfully but also keeps in touch with ministry after leaving an engagement. Jerry is an achiever. His goals are first and foremost to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. He is one who seeks the will of God when it comes to the matter of ministry in the church. I heartily recommend Jerry for your church.

(Tommy J. Stringer – Pastor – Eclectic United Methodist – Eclectic, Alabama)

It is a great privilege and pleasure to introduce and recommend to you Jerry Arhelger, a man of God who loves the Lord Jesus Christ. Jerry is an evangelist, songwriter and singer who proclaims the whole word of God as a relevant message to a need world. Jerry has a sensitivity and love for people that is surpassed by none. In our recent "One Family in Christ" conference, of which I was co-director, Jerry Arhelger was greatly used of God in leading souls to the Saviour and seeing many rededicate their lives to the Lord. My own life was challenged and changed through Jerry’s ministry. This was an international, interdenominational conference with many military people and their dependents attending. Jerry’s method and manner of presenting the Savior was readily accepted by all who attended. In these last days when "the love of many is waxing cold", Jerry Arhelger is being used of God to melt the hart of stone and put the fire in the bones of God’s people. His message, in word and song, is presented in Spirit-filled power to reach young and old, educated and uneducated. With no reservations, I highly recommend Jerry Arhelger for your church and ministry, in one service, a weekend revival effort or extended conference. Your ministry and church will be re-vitalized as God uses His servant in your midst.

(Major James R. Harnett, Senior Protestant Chaplain, USAF Mendenhall, England)
